2 Nights in GOA
Goa, popularly known as a tourist paradise, is situated in the Konkan coastal belt. Its cultural heritage, food, scenic beauty and amazing tourist spots have drawn tourists from all over the world, over the years.
I had longed, for decades, to travel to Goa with friends and family. But as life dictates, things happen at the right time. I had recently switched my job and had moved to Bangalore. Three months in the new city and my friend and I planned to make a trip to Goa in the month of November. We planned our trip from 24th November 2016 to 26th November 2016. As soon as the plan was fixed, I opened my abhibus app to check availability for bus tickets. Bus tickets……. because we would be able to choose the most convenient boarding point close to home, within budget and most importantly travel comfortably unlike airports, where you have to reach 2 hours in advance with endless security checks.
I booked our bus tickets through abhibus app from JP Nagar, Bangalore to Panjim, Goa. The scheduled boarding time was 7:00 PM and to my surprise the bus arrived right on time. It was almost a 12 hour journey and the bus made pit stops in between. We reached Goa at around 7.30 AM and were dropped at Panjim.
7.30 AM, 24th November 2016 : We were in Panjim located in central Goa. Our hotel rooms were booked in Orritel Village Square situated in North Goa, near Anjuna beach. We had no clue on how to reach North Goa. We saw people pooling cabs, so we rushed to the location and luckily there were people who were travelling close to Anjuna beach. People got down at multiple places, which took time and eventually we reached our hotel at around 12 noon.
The hotel was surrounded by trees and plants and we were thrilled to see the swimming pool. The hotel rooms were spacious, it felt like heaven ! Our other friends had already reached by then. We joined them at lunch which was at the hotel itself. We ordered Chicken Xacuti and chapati’s. Had never tasted chicken as delicious as this ! It is a typical goan dish and a must try. After a bit, most of us lazed inside the pool and thereafter, we spent a fun-filled evening at Anjuna beach and had dinner with music and dance at one of the fun and happening restaurants situated at the beach itself.
We covered Candolim and Baga beach on day 2. We also visited the most famous St. Francis Xavier Church. It is one of the oldest churches and is definitely a must visit. Another restaurant that is worth trying out while in north Goa, is Anand Seafood, situated close to Anjuna beach. Kingfisher curry is another Goan dish that you should definitely sample.
It was time for all of us to head back to our respective cities. Things that will most be missed is the sumptuous food and the serene beauty of this lazy destination.
